Crazy Things Christians Do

41. Put on a “smile” even when they’re not happy

The greeting and reply goes something like this…
“How are you?”, “I’m great” then we smile and walk off. But why? Many times, deep down we are not happy we are hurting. We are walking down the halls of our church and office, but feel we need to portray an attitude of joy. What can we do to be honest with each other?

I think deep down inside people do want to cry out for help when there facing trials but dont because they are afraid of peoples reactions. It is also hard to find people you can trust and know they wont go tell others.

We’re all just afraid that we’ll lose the image of “perfect family” or “perfect marriage” if we’re honest. In reality, we could be lifting each other up to the Father, supporting each other, loving each other. Just take a risk and be honest with someone about what’s really happening in your “perfect life”. I know mine’s not nearly as “perfect” as I’d like and having someone to pray for me is GREAT!

Let’s be a church that is always open and honest about where we are in life. Sharing our hurts and pain and even our sins is always the way to healing and redemption. “You’re only as sick as your secrets” and when you share your pain you are on you way to healing through Christ.
